Focussed Clinical Breastfeeding Support

This educational activity teaches and assesses a set of core clinical competencies in clinical breastfeeding support, detailed in the Core Competencies for Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) Handbook. The gestalt approach is based upon the biomechanical model arising from ultrasound studies of breastfeeding babies' suck and swallow. It offers innovative approaches to a wide range of breastfeeding-related problems. This clinical breastfeeding support activity is part of the pathway to accreditation in Community-based Neuroprotective Development Care, an integrated, evidence-based approach to early life care.
